This is what a CN land barge looks like. CN 2604 CN 2553 West, Q149, 11500 feet long. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at about 6:35PM, seen here passing through Climax, at Main Street/South 44Th Street, MP 165.12 South Bend Subdivision, Climax, Michigan.

And a few seconds after the westbound clears the camera, here comes the CN 2855 CN 2853 East, M394, on the other track.

I didn't know the eastbound was coming. I was pointed toward the east and when the gates never raised up, I left the camera running and stayed right there and waited.

I talked with the Conductor on the eastbound later that night. He said the train came apart - 51 & 52 deep - on the single track between Sedley and Valparaiso, Indiana, about 25 miles after leaving Kirk Yard, in Gary, and he spent about 2 hours walking it to put it back together. That location is on single track with steep embankments on both sides, not the ideal location to be walking the train. He also said it was like a rubber band with all of those long draw-bar flats with the sheet steel, slack in, slack out....

A lot of people really want to see the entire train. It puts me to sleep after about the first minute or so, but this one is both trains, from the start to the finish, a little over 6 minutes long. I had to cut as much off as I could to get it down to the proper size, the original video was just under 7 minutes long.

Thanks for showing the whole train. I was just out in Chicago area and CN was the preferred railroad, because of the way they run their trains. We saw several around 160 cars and 10000 feet and one northbound at W Chicago with 212 cars, but most were the short frac sand cov hops so probably not that long in footage.
