Grand Elk's turn back to Kalamazoo from the south (Elkhart, IN) is coming back north in to the metro Kalamazoo area one night earlier this summer, car traffic was light so I grabbed some one-hand iPhone video of the train overtaking me along Shaver Rd., in Portage MI. This track was ex NYC Kalamazoo branch that was upgraded by CR. I remember when it was a branch. Nowadays, Grand Elk (WATCO) trains run on it and they waste no time getting into town..

It's 40 mph here for cars and trains. For cars, this is old US 131. I remember that too.
