Eastern Railroad Discussion > An Afternoon in OtisDate: 07/27/14 20:04 An Afternoon in Otis Author: Mastadon With word of the Erie Heritage leading oil empties out of Elkhart, I decided to drop anchor at the Otis Curve between LaPorte and Chesterton, Indiana on the NS Chicago Line and wait out the oncoming NS 65R. Shortly after I arrived it clouded up and then a brief thunderstorm struck. The first notable train showed up as the clouds were still out of force-a CREX ES44AC and a BNSF GE came west. Next up was a westbound with a CN SD70M-2/Illinois Central SD70 duo as the sun shone bright. Finally, the 65R came west in full sun with the Erie large and in charge amid a nice background of clouds. It was an afternoon well spent.
