Eastern Railroad Discussion > A Pup on the Reading & NorthernDate: 08/19/14 06:25 A Pup on the Reading & Northern Author: RDG630 Came across R&N SW8m #803 (ex-Lehigh Valley 270)working the Schuylkill Division (ex-PPR Schuylkill Valley Branch) at Temple, Pa. yesterday. The engine is seen pushing ballast hoppers south across Tuckerton Road with a caboose acting as a shoving platform for the reverse move.

Did they re-open the damaged bridge over Maiden Creek and resume a connection to Hamburg? The last I heard was the Reading Company museum (RCT&HS) was no longer accessed and that the track was being used for car storage as noted in the above post. The branch sure went downhill in a hurry right after R&N won the award for hauling rock to NJ and back-hauling sand to the quarry just west of the damaged bridge Gonut.
