Eastern Railroad Discussion > Morning in Effingham (back in 2012)Date: 08/24/14 18:56 Morning in Effingham (back in 2012) Author: BNSFDS On our way to Ohio and PA back in August 2012, Dad and I spent the night in the small town of Effingham, Illinois. I got up early so we could stop at the Amtrak Station to catch the northbound Saluki before getting back on I-70 and continuing east. While we were waiting, a CN yard job also made an appearance.

When they added the Saluki as the #3 train it helped passenger loads on the other trains because people had a decent choice of times to travel. The people in Memphis are talking about a adding a Chicago Memphis train, so maybe that could be done and schedules adjusted to make 4 trains per day.
