Busy Friday at Rockport Wye, Tampa, FL

Drove over to Rockport Wye, Tampa, FL this Friday morning and the first movement I got was SD40-2 #8096 on the south leg of the wye heading south to Port Sutton. It showed up a few hours later as the second unit on the 0842. My camera still was chilly and the lens was not cleared up when I took this shot as it showed up a few minutes after I got there.

Second train I got was doubling its train in Rockport Yard with C40-8W #7818 in the lead.

A little later the train left Rockport with a mixed train.

Second unit on the train was C40-8W #7711 as it heads off of the north leg on the wye onto the main line going north.

Later light power lead by SD70MAC #4787 waits for the signal to go north. Behind it is another SD70MAC # 4577 waiting to double its train.

Here is the light power led by SD70MAC #4587 as it leaves Rockport Yard.

Trainling unit on the light powers was SD40-2 #8013 as it heads toward th main going north.

A little while later the 0823 with Tropicana loads led by ES44DC #5242 passes by Rockport.

Shortly after the 0843 led by SD70MAC #4577 leaves Rockport for the mines in the Bone Valley.

Shortly after the 0708 with GP39-2 #4300 with a short train on its way to Palmetto and Bradenton.

Another view of the 0708 as it passes thru Rockport. I did not realize that the ex Reading GP39-2's were set up to run long hood forward.

Finally the last train I got was the northbound empty hopper train 0842 led by SD70MAC #4576 on its way back to Bone Valley. This was first time at Rockport that I did not see any SD70M's in the 4600 series.

Nice series. Thanks for posting. The northern end of the Palmetto Sub is surprisingly busy with all the phosphate movements, Big Bend coal trains, Tropicana juice trains, and local freights.

The Reading locos were built to run short hood forward however they may have had dual control stands?
