Eastern Railroad Discussion > Hyattsville Action & Extension Double Tracking UpdateDate: 09/01/14 21:06 Hyattsville Action & Extension Double Tracking Update Author: GP35 In this posting will be some Washington, D.C. area CSX action from the Hyattsville, Maryland wye and also an update on the old B&O Alexandria Extension double tracking project. All pictures are from Sunday August 31, 2014. The construction project is moving along at a steady pace. Not sure about the completion date but it looks like before the end of year.
I'll start out with the CSX action that I caught in an hour and a half. It's a total of five trains. Not too bad for a Sunday morning at the Hyattsville wye. The extension pictures will wrap up this posting. Will start out at Tanglewood Drive and finish up at 52nd Avenue in Bladensburg, Maryland. Hope you enjoy the presentation, Gilbert. Top pic is of westbound autorack Q261-30 led by CSX 4536, 7858, and 5237 on number 1 track at JD 10:05 am. Next two are of eastbound autorack L226-29 led by CSX 7781, 7564, and Union Pacific C40-8 numbered 9257 at JD on number 2 track 10:15 am. Next two are of eastbound intermodal L138-29 led by CSX 908 and 821 on number two track at JD 11:25 am. Top two are looking toward the wye and the bottom one is looking toward 52nd Avenue at Jones Hill. The signal masts are up now. The crossovers are in place too now.
