BNSF on CSX - Elephant Style
Author: TrainCatcher

BNSF trains on the CSX Chicago line are no secret - they run quite a few trains with the orange power. I shot several over the past several days and noticed that 3 of the Bakken oil trains had 3 unit engine consists arranged elephant style. I have always been a fan of this lashup arrangement and document it in my log book when it occurs - which isn't that often.

Westbound empty oil train K055 with a burnt BNSF 6168 and a pair of Grinsteins: 9543 & 9581 at 1624 on 9/26 at E. Garrett, IN.

Eastbound oil train, K038, with CREX 1301, BNSF 9390 and Grinstein 9498 at West Garrett, IN at 1221 on 9/27.

Eastbound oil train, K138, under a surreal sky at Auburn Junction, IN at 1327 on 9/27 powered by BNSF 8036, NS 2670 & BNSF 1062.

Nice stuff! I saw the K138 yesterday on the Trenton Line yesterday, of course with no camera.
