Mance from the air Drone fanning
Author: agrafton

note: there is no sound this time around:

My other half nancyg put up a few photos from our trip to Sandpatch and Mance and I took along my drone with hopes of getting a couple trains
passing the Post Office at Mance. The weather was not good for flying a drone but there where breaks in the wind gusts and I was able to get it in
the air and struggled to keep it “manageable”. Just like a plane wind gusts and shears play havoc with a drone.
When the video starts look at the pine trees near the Post Office and you can see how strong the wind was and throughout the video you will see
the tips of the prop guards, not to many times, as the wind would throw the drone around pretty good. I did several flights and videos and this video
with two Autoracks, a w/b and an e/b, came out very good considering the wind I had to battle. I drove over 400 miles total down and back so I
was going to get a video one way or another. Thanks for looking and I will return on a sunny day “there” I hope.

Well done. As a fellow drone pilot I know how difficult it is to stay in a god hover as the train approaches. Throw in a slight breeze and you've got your work cut out for you.

Bravo Alan. Nice video. Your video of the east & westbound trains and their respective speeds gives an idea of the grade involved. "Lost marble productions", I like that.

Those autoracks are really flexible! Fish eye lenses do wondrous things. Good work!

Great video! I'd like to know a bit more about the drone and camera that you used with it, like make and model numbers for some of us that are considering the purchase of one. Thanks!

Thanks for great video. It must be hard to operate one of these. I also would consider buying one but they had just come out online , maybe when they come down in price a little. I think one I saw was a few grand if including remote, monitor and a 'Go pro' camera. Keep sending more, it gives a great new perspective on fanning.
