Sunday (10/19/14) NS train 295 had the NSRY 8114 heritage unit for a leader, making yet another trip South down the CNO&TP. The day before we had been treated to the NS 6920 Vets unit on train 147 (with some craptastic weather) , But Sunday would be much MUCH better!

The morning dawned cold and cloudy, but the clouds soon started to clear, and by Noon with had nothing but sunshine and Blue sky. I spent the morning shooting a few trains on the Louisville District and CNO&TP while waiting on the 295 to get down to us. It was a rather busy day (for a Sunday) and 295 was running behind several other trains. It was after 1500 before we got our First shot at Burgin, KY and from there managed 3 more locations in the perfect late day light.

#1 NS 8114 leads train 295 across single track at Burgin, KY.

#2 Southbound 295 sprints down the Green River Valley at Palm, Kentucky. Temps in the 50's, color in the trees and a perfect Blue sky....you can go wrong with that combination!

#3 8114 leads NS 295 at Southfork, Ky. The train has just started out onto single track and is already digging in for the steep climb up to Kings Mountain. The picture is level...the train is not!
