A little foggy and a little past peak...

A little fog-bound and a little past peak...hmmm, does that phrase describe this morning's fall foliage photo or the photographer himself?

It's around 7:45 AM and CP northbound 253 creeps up to a stop, just shy of the Main Street crossing in Delanson, NY. There's an NS southbound intermodal/auto rack train just out of Mohawk, 15 miles away, so the wait will be brief.

But this is commuter railfanning, so my son and I won't have time to dawdle and wait for the meet. Just wait long enough to suck down the remains of my morning coffee, and for the engineer to turn off the ditch lights. Turn on the image stabilizer, so I can use the zoom at something less than ASA 1600.

Then take the shot, and get to work.

You captured the mood beautifully. I too am "a little foggy and a little past peak".
