Eastern Railroad Discussion > Toledo to Salt Lake City auto routingDate: 10/21/14 12:33 Toledo to Salt Lake City auto routing Author: 2ebright I'm a western board guy with little knowledge of eastern railroads. I am currently awaiting delivery of a new Jeep SUV and am curious as to its likely rail routing. The SUV will be built at the Toledo North Assembly Plant in Ohio and will be shipped to the Union Pacific's Roper Yard in Salt Lake City. Do any of you know its likely routing and interchange point?

The load should show as originating on the Ann Arbor, which switches the loading tracks at Toledo North and makes up blocks for NS and CSX. Edited 2 time(s). Not sure if they still have it.

It would take Q209 from Walbridge to IHBs Gibson yard. NS train 31M (Detroit-IHB/Gibson) often picks up racks in Toledo that have come from the Ann Arbor. On some days, NS originates a 33M in Toledo to move that traffic. And yes, I got the joke about CSX, too. My Jeep was on a train at Swanton, OH at 11:00Am this morning. Which RR would this be and where is it's route west next?
Thanks in advance, guys. Dick Roosevelt, Utah Date: 10/21/14 14:26 Re: Toledo to Salt Lake City auto routing Author: SlwApprSlw If it was on a train in Swanton, OH, it would be on the NS Chicago Line. The train will most likely end up at IHB Gibson Yard near the Gary - Hammond, IN area.
