Central of Georgia on the Columbus District at Duvall,O
Author: Gateway97

Last Saturday the C of G heritage was on a 746 Belews Creek loaded coal out of Bailey Mine in PA. Here is 8101 at Duvall, Ohio, getting a good roll on, just South of Columbus after a new crew taxied up from Portsmouth. We didn't mind the almost 3-hour wait for the crew change as NS and CSX provided us with 7 other trains on their parallel mains.

Not to be to nit-picky, but this train is not on the Northern Subdivision, its on the Columbus District of NS. The Northern is a CSX (former C&O) line...

And for those wondering where Belews Creek is, the answer appears to be it's a power plant near Walnut Cove, NC, on NS's Roanoke-Winston-Salem line. It has a stub-end yard at the power plant according to Google Maps aerial photos: http://goo.gl/maps/G4Ayd

From time to time, Belews Creek empties will run north on a different route, through Enola and Altoona. Taking their long way back to the mine
