Watching trains in Kennesaw, GA
Author: MEKoch

A few weeks back we were in Kennesaw, GA. We went through the Civil War Locomotive museum. A nice display of the "great locomotive chase" and the General locomotive, cars, etc. There are displays for kids, as well as model train displays. The picture shows the Kennesaw station, with the museum on the far left. In the foreground you see the CSX Atlanta - Chattanooga mainline.

Afterward touring the museum, we hoped to see a few trains and eat lunch. The picture was taken from the upper deck of Burgerfi in downtown Kennesaw. A variety of burgers etc. A good mid-day photo angle. They even have heaters on the deck for cold weather.

Alas in our 60 minute lunch, no trains......

Do you have any photos of the General you could share?

Burgerfi high priced for McDonald's size burgers.
I spent $13.00 for a burger,onion rings (nearly raw)
and a drink.
Best food nearby is a Mexican place just south of there.
Nice view tho.

The girl asked if I had been there before,I said no.
She won't ask again, because I will never go back.

Sounds like you enjoyed your visit to the museum. Just bad luck that you didn't see any trains.

You might not have noticed the construction around back, but the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History is becoming quite a research and archive museum for Southeastern railroad history:

The CSX W&A (line out of Chattanooga) is under curfew until 11/06/14, which is likely why you didn't see any trains in Kennesaw.

Big regional burger chain, opening a lot of locations.

Looks like a nice place to have a cold beer and watch trains. When there are trains

Yes, and there is even a big screen TV on the deck to catch the football games while dining or waiting on trains.

Burgers and fries are priced along the lines of 5 Guys, but are much better and the view is much nicer. Only thing 5 Guys has over BurgerFi is the peanuts.

It is unusual to not see a train in Kennesaw within an hour window, however the curfew answers it. The train count is still not at the '08 levels.
