Your video brought many memories of my time working for the Trunk at Blue Island tower in 1967. So much has changed and so much is still the same. It was a busy place to work. I was on the 3rd shift for about one year there. I very rarely had to handle train orders there but we had the blank train order forms for all railroads that went by the tower. After working at a couple of Armstrong plants it was a pleasure to have the electric plant to throw switches and signals. The little gate keepers tower was a real stay on your toes job, with trains coming from any direction. Thank you so very much for sharing this video.

You're welcome!

On previous visits over the years, it did seem like the gate operator had to be on his toes. I recall some instances where the trains had to 'help him out' a bit when they were approaching the crossing.

What other towers were on your GTW seniority district?
I presume Thornton Jct. was one of them.
