All dressed up and nowhere to go...
Author: Forever-Railfan-45

Went to Erie today with good friend Dave as we thought we may catch the Florida East Coast locomotives being put on the NS interchange track for delivery...not. But we did catch the new Canadian National locomotives all dressed up and nowhere to go. Off of Franklin Ave we could see the FEC 802 and a Roy Hill GEVO sitting in front of the GE plant but not conducive for photographs...

WOW those pics are so vivid, it's like I was there! The twin dump truck shot is killer. Your pics came out just a bit better than mine LOL.

The "P32-8" is a P32AC-DM dual mode.
Nice pix.

Does Tier 4...or any tier for that matter apply to GE and EMD locomotives delivered to CP and CN?

If it does not apply, then CN and CP could continue receiving new locomotives while the US market awaits the certification of Tier 4 GE and EMD locimotives...or is the fact that CN and CP units cross the border and freely roam in the US mean that they need to comply with US Tier regs as well? Was just informed the Tier 4 standards do not apply to the railroads in Canada...just EPA standards for the US. Corrections welcone...

Both Cn and CP have aggreed to only purchase locomotives meeting current US standards. I belive this is an informal agreement, but is probably because fleet flexibility requires them to be able to operate on both sides of the border. Canadian railroads operating exclusively in Canada are under no such agreement and can purchase whatever they choose. Though technically, I guess CP/CN could as well, they have said they wont.
