Traffic study revives idea of Rt. 161 running under Linworth train tracks.

A plan to ease congestion on Rt. 161 between Dublin and Worthington could involve running the road underneath the railroad crossing in Linworth.

Evening rush-hour traffic can be backed up for more than a mile while trains lumber through the crossing on the CSX line.

The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission released its traffic study of the corridor this month — the first step in a long process. The state Department of Transportation will use the findings to make conceptual drawings of possible changes in the road.

With between 15,000 and 17,000 vehicles traveling the two-lane road daily, intersections become bottlenecks, and the road is approaching its capacity, according to the report.

Above is an expert from the story, read on here:

Boy oh boy, a study, paid for with taxpayer dollars to determine the frigging OBVIOUS. I wonder how many millions of my hard earned tax dollars were wasted on a study to determine that an underpass will relieve congestion at a grade crossing?

You don't understand how it works, the engineering company makes a big campaign contribution to some fool who is such a loser he can only be a politician. The politician says there is a problem but only a learned person knows the answer. So loser politician votes big money to learned engineer to write in 100 pages what any 6 year old can write with crayon on one. The answer hidden from mere mortals was to build a bridge. Politician pay engineer big bucks thus priming the pump for the next election cycle.

But wait there is more! Now that the loser politician has the 100 page study from the learned engineer he now has political coverage to hire brand name construction company who employs many people from monopoly union run by power hungry union boss to build the bridge. Of course the brand name construction company is allowed to bid based on its contributions err rather its qualifications and its ability to put hungry union people to work so they can pay their union dues that allow the power hungry union boss to shovel cash out to the looser politicians in exchange for "fair treatment" of the monopoly union.

All of this money is called grease, grease keeps the wheels of government turning.

It is a wonderful system, except that the grease that keeps the wheels of government turning is invariably squeezed out of the mere mortal who pay the taxes.

But hey they are happy that they don't have to wait for the train anymore.
