Brunswick CP & NS power Freight Cars
Author: GP35

Here is a series of pictures taken today Saturday November 22, 2014 in Brunswick, Maryland. It was not too busy but there were some interesting power and freight cars that passed through Brunswick today. I did my best to be selective with the pics I took and just post the ones that may be of interest to the audience here. I have had some requests from members for more freight car pics and I have some more to share with everyone.

I was in Brunswick for about 5 hours today and noted 12 movements and 2 parked trains. The movements in order were: a K train of empty ethanol tankcars, Q373-20, U777-20, E721-21, L415-21, Q276-21, P030-22, U825-19, B667-22 lite helpers, B801-22 lite helpers, Q130-21, and D789-22 with ash cars at Point of Rocks.

First pic is of a parked eastbound train near the 84 Lumber store with CSX 7801 and 5459 on # 3 runner. Pic taken at 10:15 am.

Next two pics are of a westbound empty ethanol train with CSX 7729 and 8589 for power on track 1 passing through at 10:30 am.

Hope you enjoy, Gilbert.

Looks like you had a good day at Brunswick
I have not seen a yellow W&W car in a long time.
That red truck looks like it could reach up to the
road bridge over the Potomac

The freight car pics are way more interesting than the locomotives. Keep them coming.

Another interesting post Gilbert. I also enjoyed the freight car photos, especially that Conrail hopper. Is that Tower to the right in your second photo still operational?

Hi John, the Brunswick WB Tower in the photo is not operational anymore. It was closed a few years back but I don't remember exactly when. I believe it was one of the last manned towers if not the last one between Cumberland and Baltimore. Even when it closed, it was one of last operational towers in the CSX system from what I remember. Hope this helps and take care, Gilbert.
