Matched ABA F units - question
Author: midwest

With the repainting of the Keokuk Junction Railway F9B, the railroad now has a set of ABA F units in matching paint. How long has it been since this has happened in regular freight service on a railroad?

LTV Steel in Minnesota doesn't count since they were a private railroad.

These locomotives came from Algoma Central, and while they were primarily used there on the passenger trains, they occasionally turned up in freight service -- though I doubt in a complete ABA set.

That leads me to believe that the last ABA F-unit set was probably the set that worked the Bessemer & Lake Erie's Western Allegheny Branch in the early 1990s.

WICT 901-102B-106 (plus BL-2 52) ran the Chicago job in the early 1990's.

Nebkota's Fs are being offered as the Answer on the western board. I had forgotten they had a B-unit.

KJ's newly repainted B unit is now down for electrical repairs.

I ran A,A and ABA sets in freight on the Ohio Central in 2002 or 2003.
