Speaking of New Jersey, what ever happened to that guy who had a yard full of railroad paraphernalia that the CSX police carted off?

From the Big House to the State House. Has kind of a poetic ring to it....

The thing that intrigues me about this is the gang's knowledge of which containers held high-end goods. Without that information, they could have broken into containers full of toilet paper or number 2 pencils.

Inside job, perhaps?

In another article, it claimed that gang members pretended to be railroad employees and would radio dispatchers asking what tracks trains would be going onto (so they could break into them and have people on the ground grab the goods...)

There was speculation that the Boyz had some inside info back when the trial happened. I don't believe there was any proof offered. Should have been easy to prove (who was tracking container # such and such) if there was any truth to it.

Stuff like that happens in the delivery business, too. Anonymous shipments from camera dealers or jewelry dealers seems to vanish more frequently than sacks of oatmeal, etc

There is always the temptation to make a fast buck, but ultimately, burglary does not pay. If you divide your profits by the time you sit in jail, that is.

Most of us aren't tempted to do that, I know I'm not...

Right, but there seem to be prisons full of such idiots.

The prisons are not full of crooks - The main subject of the story served less than 4 years of a 13 year sentence before being paroled. Such nonsense sure agues against the parole system.

In NJ, it's very rare for a non-violent convict to serve even half of a sentence. There's far too much demand by violent criminals, three time losers, etc for the accommodations.

Even guys like this fellow, with a decent rap sheet, aren't going to get much time inside.

Evidently, this respondent lives somewhere other than New Jersey.

But can the burglars do the arithmetic?
