Norfolk Southern transported a large group of new SD70ACe's from Muncie Indiana today, seen here eastbound through the Berea Interlock in Ohio. Rare to see seven new units grouped together for delivery on NS. For those of you who keep track of delivered units they were numbers 1146, 1154, 1147, 1167, 1165, 1148 and 1142(in train order).

In addition to these seven an earlier westbound train had two recently delivered SD70's on a westbound.

Note once again the beautiful sunny sky of Northern Ohio...traditionally December is our cloudiest month so lets bring on January!!

So what route would they have taken out of Muncie?

I think the deliveries have been coming on 14N from Elkhart, so they must route to Ft Wayne and then Elkhart.

Sorry, somewhat off topic and don't mean to hijack this thread, but has anyone heard if the workers at EMD's Muncie plant have been informed of layoffs, or not, since at least what they say here on TO, that EMD will not be able to sell locomotives in the US market after the first of the year?

Still seems like this is hard to believe, that they must have something planned before 2017?

still making plenty of export units as well as eco power rebuilds...no layoffs that I've heard of as of now...

Good morning. Are these units as powerful as comparable GE units? I have heard GE units are better at starting a train and won't slip as easily as an EMD.

Sad the EMD has seen fit to beat its products with an ugly stick.

These new SD's are 4400 hp and are as good or better than any GE unit.
