Eastern Railroad Discussion > What's The Next Move For The FEC's SD70M-2's?Date: 12/26/14 18:45 What's The Next Move For The FEC's SD70M-2's? Author: JMorhaus Just was wondering if Florida East Coast was keeping there SD70M-2's since being replaced by the new ES44C4's, or were they being leased elsewhere?

Where they'll go next has been the subject of much speculation and a bit of false-rumor-spreading. The most popular forecast is that CSX will lease them from whoever their actual owner is, but I'll truly believe it when it happens.

A couple of the CITX SD70M-2's the FEC recently had, 140 & 142, were power on a Q457/458 earlier this week per a post on a FB group with photo evidence. Yes the CITX 141 is still on FEC property for repairs before it is returned. Apparently CITX is leasing all three to CSX. Date: 12/28/14 17:03 Re: What's The Next Move For The FEC's SD70M-2's? Author: CR4114 I can tell you that NS is acquiring 189 units through early next year...181 of them are already accounted for...
100 ex-UP SD90MAC's 50 new SD70ACe's 12 ex-CSXT SD80MAC's 9 ex-BNSF SD60M's 7 ex-BNSF SD75M's 3 ex-NYSW SD70M's That leaves 8 units unaccounted for...which just so happens to be exactly how many SD70M-2's has and is letting go. Also another thing is that NS's ex-BNSF SD75M's were originally slated to be numbered 2779-2785...right behind NS's own SD70M-2's. They were changed to 2800-2806 though, leaving the 2779-2786 slot open for these units to be numbered with the rest of the SD70M-2's on the roster.
