Today was one of the better days weatherwise in Central Michigan,
so I headed out for Durand with hopes of seeing lots of trains.
As I was getting close to my destination, I heard all sorts of
radio chatter indicating that trains (three of them) were headed
east, west, and south of Durand. So If I had gotten out of bed
30 minutes earlier, I would have had three in the bag as soon as
I got to town. I did see two CN trains, and HESR came to town.
I'm always hopeful that HESR will come to town with lots of power
or maybe just the G&W liveried unit. It was jackpot day for me.
HESR had six units on the head of a 59 car train. I caught him
running out on the Port Huron Wye until the train cleared the
points into the yard, and then he made the reverse move. He
stopped once, so I caught two episodes of slack running in as
the train got moving up a slight grade into the yard.
