Eastern Railroad Discussion > Quantico, VA CSX (RF&P) AerialDate: 03/01/15 11:09 Quantico, VA CSX (RF&P) Aerial Author: cinder An unusually cold February has iced the tributaries of the Potomac River, in this case Quantico Creek. A northbound coal drag crosses the creek on a morning when it was 15 degrees when we took off from the nearby Manassas, VA airport at 10:30 am.
The second image shows a portion of the Presidential fleet of helicopters at the air field on the Marine Corps Base Quantico......including the Osprey. Edited 1 time(s). Date: 03/01/15 17:32 Re: Quantico, VA CSX (RF&P) Aerial Author: RFandPFan Nice shots...those are Osprey's not Presidential Helicopters. I used to be stationed there, the HMX-1 helicopters are usually inside.

By any chance did you get any shots of the Power Plant south of the base. They have an old RS 1 that looks like its been sitting a long time, between the main line and the plant.Jim Date: 03/02/15 03:10 Re: Quantico, VA CSX (RF&P) Aerial Author: cinder I assume you mean north of Quantico.
1. Power plant enveloped in steam in the cold temperature last Tuesday.. 2. The plant in 2007 with switcher in view. Are we talking here about "Marine 1", the president's helicopter? Don't they fly out of Joint Base Bolling/Anacostia? Rick Date: 03/02/15 08:16 Re: Quantico, VA CSX (RF&P) Aerial Author: jimh That's the one , looks like it hasn't been used in a few years.
I saw it from The Auto Train Jim Date: 03/02/15 08:21 Re: Quantico, VA CSX (RF&P) Aerial Author: rhotond how much reheat did you have to use to get the 172's engine going? My bonanza takes about 20 minutes at 15F
Date: 03/02/15 08:42 Re: Quantico, VA CSX (RF&P) Aerial Author: cinder The engine in the Cessna 172 took about 15 minutes of Salamander heat while still in the hangar
