Signal Sunday On the C&O
Author: CO3124

Going along with the Signal Sunday topic, here's a few from the old Chesapeake & Ohio territory.

1. We are just west of Hinton, WV at Brooks as empty oil train K081 passes under the old automatic signal at CA361.00 as it rolls west for Russell, Kentucky with a fresh crew out of Hinton.

2. In this photo, we are at Thurmond on Novmeber 18, 2011 as Amtrak #50, the eastbound Cardinal a.k.a. The Redbird, passes under the now defunct cantilever as it prepares to make its station stop at Park Headquarters.

3. Passing the intermediate signal called Bob's Cabin at Thelma, Kentucky. Eastbound manifest Q696 wastes no time making its way south/east towards Pikeville, Kentucky along the Big Sandy Subdivision.

Some, like Thurmond, are already deceased. Nice catch on the 156 there. Gonna miss these trademark C&O signals.

Out of all three signals in the opening post.

Only Thurmond has been replaced so far.
