Eastern Railroad Discussion > Power shortage? What power shortage?Date: 03/02/15 21:51 Power shortage? What power shortage? Author: msullivan1993 It's hard to justify CSX's motive power shortages when you have trains like Cincinatti born manifest Q320-02 pulling into the eastbound receiving yard at Russell with nine motors in tow (Eight GE motors of varying generations and a single SD50-2). The power will be cut off and sent under the eastern Switching Leads to the pit to be distributed to other trains sent out of Russell Yard.

Whatever. Large engine moves are common on class ones and all the Class ones have their power running on other railroads. Bruce Date: 03/03/15 04:55 Re: Power shortage? What power shortage? Author: AKYtrainNut A fairly common practice to send GE's DIT to Russell from Cincinnati. Shop would get advance notice they were coming with their ailments. I am not saying they are all DIT but what I can determine from the picture, the GE's appear to be older -8's. When Cincinnati would get covered up this is what would happen and Russell would have material to handle big fixes rather than expedite that much material to Cincinnati that doesn't have needed material on hand.

If they weren't short of power they wouldn't be leasing additional units. As for CSX power roaming all across the country, have you paid much attention to the foreign power running all over CSX currently? It all equals out.
