FYI for your records, it's Pitcairn.

My father worked at Pitcairn loading and unloading freight for the Pennsylvania Railroad when I very young back in the 1950's . How much of that freight complex still exists today?

Today the yard has two Pad Tracks for intermodal trains. As far as I know they do not load and unload freight from the locals. The old engine repair building is now the office for the Yardmaster.

Of course I never saw the Pitcairn Yard back in those days, but I remember my dad telling me it was quite a large freight operation then. He described handling everything from sacks of potatoes to wooden barrels filled with steel bolts while loading and unloading freight cars. His railroad employment ended with the merger of the Pennsy and the New York Central. He had 18 years seniority but that was not enough to keep from being permanently furloughed.

I believe Pitcairn yard handled all the PanHandle traffic...It started to shift away after Conway was upgraded.
