GP9 on Pickens RR - some type of rebuild

This unit - CLCX 8129 was on the outbout Pickens train from their shop yesterday. Appears a small diesel has replaced the EMD V16. Anyone have other information??

 In the second photo above the rear of the truck "night plug" is stenciled. I wonder if it has batteries or some hybrid drive with the small diesel charging the batteries?

From the outside, it does not appear to have too many ways for the diesel to breath or cool itself. Almost slug like except the remote control lights.

It's a real life undecorated (seemingly) model!!! Very interesting locomotive.
