On the former Gainesville Midland. 

That is ashame. From where it appears the body is to where the train stopped, it does not appear the train was going very fast. Of course when emergency brakes were applied is also a factor in this distance however I do not believe the old Gainesville Midland has ever been a "racetrack" in the first place. 

Last couple of days have been  very rough for high school kids and college kids in Georgia.

Life is definitely "tissue paper thin".

Jay, the GM has max track speed of 25MPH and some spots as low as 10. A photo from the scene I seen showed the MP and that block is 25MPH. 

11 Alive has been a brand name for WXIA-TV in Atlanta for 39 years. TV stations in other markets used, and perhaps still do, the "nn-Alive" branding. 

But it does seem awkward when they report deaths.

Thanks Van. I thought it was relatively low speed, however the inertia and mass of a moving train regardless of speed are no match when compared to flesh and bones.

Let's see, within the last 48 hours, Georgia has lost one 18 year old senior in a car wreck, one 17 year old walking on train tracks, and 5 college juniors and/or seniors in the vehicle crash near Savannah where the transfer truck ran into the stopped cars on the interstate. That is only the ones that have made the news. Let's hope the next 48 hours are kinder.
