Wednesday field trip to Port Manatee, Florida
Author: gg1tim

Last Wednesday  some employees where I work took a field trip over to Port Manatee on a tour of the Port's facilities. We were on a tram pooled by an electric cart and we were told we could not get off the tram under any circumstances due to strict port security.
Anyway I managed to get a couple of photos of one of their new locomotives the #1011 which is a 2GS-14B low emisions model.

Another view of one of their new engines.

Near the end of the tour we passed by one of their old engines a former Alaska unit. I had to lean way out of the tram car to get this going away shot so it is not lined up as I normally would have it. This is my fourth trip to Port Manatee since I have been living in Florida and it is the only port in Florida which offers guided tours as we were told.
