Circus Train Meets An Intermodal
Author: CO3124

Spent the day Tuesday to try and intercept the Ringling Brothers Circus Train that was supposed to come in along the West Virginia Secondary that morning. After seeing that the possibility of catching the Ringling Brothers Blue Train going down the tubes with the problems it was encountering along the way. We decided to roll on west to intercept the Ringling Brothers' "Red" Circus Train after a few updates. The decision paid off....... for the most part.

Here we are at Circleville, Ohio along Norfolk Southern's Columbus District as train 048, the Ringling Brothers' "Red" circus train, rolls into town heading for it's next set of dates in Columbus. Just as it is about to pass through the last crossing and come around the curve. Eastbound intermodal train 234 pops into view just a few minutes after completeing its work at the E.V. Rickenbacker Intermodal Facility at Lockbourne, Ohio.

You guys must have had lots of fun with this one - the video is fine!  To answer questions I heard being asked while you watched the Red Unit pass, the train "has on it" the animals (first 4 cars have elephants, horses, camels and other large animals), the passenger cars are the ACTUAL (R.V.-like) HOMES for over 300 people on the show (cast and crew, concessions sales personnel, live band members, train and truck maintenance staff, school teachers for the more than 40 kids on this year's Red Unit and many more!), and the entire complement of PRODUCTION material for the show itself (riggig, wardrobe, lighting, props and more - as well as vehicles from tractors to a large BUS (seen on the last car).
