Eastern Railroad Discussion > NS 8100 on 552

Hi I am new to the site and I want to know where NS 8100 currently is. Reports said it was on the C&O in Toledo. Has it left yet or is it still there? I want to look for it but I don't want to wait for hours. Please Reply quickly.

It just pulled out of the secondary at 6:15. It looked like it needed to double up one more time and then it'll be off to the west.

Ok but does that mean it has to stop somewhere else?

Not knowing where you are located I can't tell you if it'll need to stop. I would say if you're just west of Toledo (Swanton, Wauseon, etc) it will be along relatively soon but can't say for sure.

Ok thanks. I'm going to Northwest Indaina and I'm from the Chicago area.

You're probably looking at the middle of the night sometime in NW Indiana. Coal trains are low priority (it sat here for a day) so it could get held up somewhere for a little while. I'm not sure but I'm guessing it has a Toledo-Chicago crew.

What if I went Further east like Goshen? If It's still gets there late, then I'll try to find it tommrow.Thanks for the information. Also where can I try to find it tommrow?

Someone who knows the Chicago area will have to help you there but it's destined for Wisconsin so it'll need to get interchanged to get out of town. It could sit for awhile waiting.

Thanks for the information.

It got stopped west of Swanton, Ohio tonight after the crew of a local it passed reported a smoking brake. The conductor had to watch a slow roll-by and then kick the brake off and walk back to the head end. Cost them about an hour; train finally got moving again right at sunset.

It's plausible that this train won't arrive in Chicago until after sunrise, but I'm not making any guarantees.

I'm pretty sure they use Toledo to Elkhart Crews and Elkhart to Chicago Crews like 553, BTW that has 8102 leading.
