Eastern Railroad Discussion > Hoosier Ride Whereisit?Date: 08/03/15 07:05 Hoosier Ride Whereisit? Author: tq-07fan The state of Indiana has developed a really nice system of subsidized intercity bus routes that connect Chicago to Columbus Ohio and many other places in Indiana and several other states. On a quick bus trip back from Minneapolis I finally got ride one of these routes. The thing I liked most is that these operate on some two lane US and state routes through some not frequently visited places such as the one pictured. The first two pictures are your Whereisit. The third is a clue as this is where I got off the bus on Saturday evening to be picked up by and spend the night with mom and dad and Frankie the cat before going home. So where is it? I also include the Hoosier Ride website for help in sleuthing. I'll add more clues when I get home from work tonight.

Isn't it interesting that the state has no issues subsidizing bus service but has a major paralysis whenever someone mentions trains getting any 'taxpayer' money. Edited 1 time(s). Date: 08/04/15 19:17 Re: Hoosier Ride Whereisit? Author: tq-07fan Yes the destination was Dayton. This Whereisit could easily be solved by figuring out where the trip from Chicago that arrives in Dayton in the afternoon runs through. Then all you needed to do was figure out where on that route the Indiana US or State Route was still two lane as mentioned in the description. Then take a look at where a railway would have crossed the two lane at grade. In this case there is only one place between Decatur, which is south of Ft Wayne and where US 27 goes to two lane and Richmond Indiana. Even easier is that the railway here crosses at an odd angle for the general orientation of the line. Since this has not dropped off the page I'll let someone have the glory even if they did not use the dumpster full of clues I left in the original post.
Have at it... Jim Date: 08/04/15 20:44 Re: Hoosier Ride Whereisit? Author: NS19K Portland,Indiana NS former Nickel Plate Road Frankfort district.
