NJ: push back on a minor derailment
Author: Lackawanna484

The Bergen Record has been aggressively reporting issues around the oil train traffic through the towns of Englewood, Haworth, Dumont etc on the CSX River Line in NJ. The reservoir bridge issue (since replaced) was part of that.  Now there's some push back on an article involving the derailment of salad oil cars on an industrial siding.

The (former Erie) CSX Northern Branch is parallel to the River Line, and might become a light rail line any decade now. At this point it's a once a week, or as needed industrial spur. There's an article about the derailment of salad oil cars, possibly empties, and the anti-crude oil folks are in a dither. One person likens it to the derailment of a passenger train in Vermont.

The article also uses the correct, linguistically but politically incorrect name of rapeseed.  PC folks prefer Canola, which is mentioned in the comments, too.
