Eastern Railroad Discussion > Night Train on Schuyler StreetDate: 11/19/15 12:51 Night Train on Schuyler Street Author: ut-1 Night trains are not commonplace any longer on New York, Susquehanna & Western's Utica, NY branch line. Perhaps this will change if the line ever opens south to Binghamton again. Presently, the line is out-of-service south of Sherburne to its junction with NYS&W's Syracuse branch in Chenango Forks.
Anyhow, I caught the Utica freight last night northbound near the end of Schuyler Street's 6/10th mile street running. With the old DL&W watchman's presenting a ghostly image of railroading past, the freight is shown here passing this local railroading landmark before heading off into the night. Perhaps this time of year a few more chances of night trains in the early evening.
