I decided to spend Black Friday in Ashland, VA shooting trains on the CSX RF&P sub instead of fighting the crowds in stores.

​CSX runs a local from Richmond's Acca yard to Fredericksburg. Here is today's D794 27 as it heads north with GP40-2 6152 leading it through Ashland.

​As the D794 was headed by me on main 3, CSX manifest Q401 26 came south on main 2 with ES40DC 5413 leading 10,277 feet of train.

​One of the locomotives assisting in getting this monster train over the road was SD50-2 2484.

The meet noted in the photographs happened at 9:30 am and I did not see another CSX train until just before 1:30 pm when Q438 26 comes north with ES40DC 5370 leading a 6115 foot train.

​The next freight was Q416 27 which came north at 4:15 pm with ES40DC 5260 and 9244 feet of train.

​The second locomotive on the Q416 was Helm Leasing SD40-2 7201.

Black Friday over here in the UK was a bit of a damp squib. After last years stampedes and fighting, this year it was a much more low key event, and more of the action took place online. I was too busy selling stuff in workplaces to worry about Black Friday myself.
