Eastern Railroad Discussion > Close Call Collision in Fostoria, OH?Date: 11/29/15 14:54 Close Call Collision in Fostoria, OH? Author: lefflerlad Some discussion on social media is saying that there was a close call near collision between a CSX train traveling on the northwest transfer and an eastbound NS train in Fostoria, OH. This would be the diamond of the C&O and NKP. Anybody have any more information at this time? Below is a picture snagged from Facebook.

If there has been a collision then it was not a close call..... I bet someone ate the seat cushion with their *** on one of those trains. Also, what is up with the edited picture....lol Posted from Android DG . Unknown, US Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 11/29/15 16:07 by trkspd. Trying to learn where this exact location is... can someone provide a nearby street intersection? Date: 11/29/15 17:41 Re: Close Call Collision in Fostoria, OH? Author: farmer Columbus Avenue northwest of south town street.

Date: 11/29/15 18:00 Re: Close Call Collision in Fostoria, OH? Author: NorthernOhioRail NS and CSX had an almost hit at C&O/NS diamonds. Both trains went into the interlocking at same time and went into emergency. Early reports is q355 was to wait for NS to clear.

Author: hoggerdoug I thought that utube clip was made up, short video clips and one showing a close call at a diamond when actually it was two different clips. If this was a real close incident in the above comments I'm sure there would be more info. Perhaps one train was stopped and the image posted is of the DPU's going by. I don't believe everything posted on Fbook. Doug

Author: NKPSOUTHERN Or it could be that the train is making a set out or pick up in one of the tracks you can't see in the pic and the dispatcher has talked the train by the signal to give him head room. There is a small yard with about 3 or 4 tracks that runs along the B&O main just east of "F" tower.

Date: 11/29/15 18:06 Re: Close Call Collision in Fostoria, OH? Author: lefflerlad I reckon it is legitimate considering the dispatcher ran Q136 south at Galatea after mentioning a "close call" in Fostoria.

Talking a train by a signal into an already occupied interlocking would be a major rules violation . Posted from Android Date: 11/29/15 18:34 Re: Close Call Collision in Fostoria, OH? Author: Sirsonic I doubt the dispatcher would be foolish enough to give a train headroom towards a conflicting move.

Unless something had change they used to do it all the time. If we needed headroom at the Mini plant in Belleuve when switching in the East yard we would get talked past the signal restricted speed with trains coming and going like it was not big deal. But then I'm not an expert. I just did the job for 6 years. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/29/15 18:52 by NKPSOUTHERN. |
