Leipsic, OH, CPLs going away?
Author: robbie

A friend passed along word today that CSX may be removing the CPL cantilever at Leipsic tomorrow. Would seem strange to do the work on a Sunday, but also possible. Wondering if anyone else could confirm or deny this? If it is the case, I may try to get down for some last photos.

Thanks!
Robbie

Not likely tomorrow, but maybe sometime this week. The parts for the cantilever have arrived, but, not has been assembled or placed up yet.

Regardless, it won't be long now. Then again, it's only taken a year to this point.

Sunday is just another day like any of the other six days of the week on the railroad. Most of these construction gangs work 8 days in a row and then 6 off.

Most of the signal suspensions/cutovers I have observed, however, have been done on Sunday/Monday because on many main lines - at least east of Chicago - those are the least busy days for traffic. For that matter, major track projects, such as diamond and switch replacements, that require shutdowns mostly seem to occur on those days. (That may also be why signal/section gangs' workweeks start on Sunday.)
