I wonder which of the Cl 1 RRs is being referenced in this excerpt: "... Every railroad except one — which Buenker declined to identify — provided perfect performance without any service failures, he says..."

I think the possibilities are limited to CSX, NS, BNSF, UP, and KCS? Just curious...

When I see UPS loads running down from New York  through Teaneck NJ on CSX, everything else waits.  At a very good clip.   That they can do this is amazing considering single track begins just N of Teaneck at New Bridge Road, triple track up to that point.  

Not BNSF. There record for UPS is perfect.
My guess would be the RR with an attitude.

CSX no UPS failures this past peak season

They shouldn't have had any because there were fewer trains.

Shippers did a better job on managing last minute free shipping deals. That was a huge 2014 problem.

NS had a perfect UPS peak season as well.
