Eastern Railroad Discussion > Signal Sunday - One Last ShotDate: 02/07/16 05:08 Signal Sunday - One Last Shot Author: CGTower Now that the final pieces of signal hardware has arrived in Leipsic (prounonced "lip-sick"), Ohio, the work around this busy NS/CSX junction will likey finish up very soon. The new signal work will certainly aid in train movements, but, as with all things, it comes with the loss of classic railroad signals. All of this prompted us to ventured out last evening to pay homage, once again, to falling signals.
As stars shine from above and as Protech Steel glows in the background, northbound empty coal train U700 steaks by as the color position light signal beckons him across the NS diamonds. The headlight beam shows not only the cantilever, but the long closed tower and the new signal components. Perhaps I'll sneak in a trip today...

Actually, I thought of you as we pulled in, wondering if there would be a few others around. It was just us...and it was COLD! Thank you.
Date: 02/07/16 08:34 Re: Signal Sunday - One Last Shot Author: Benched_it I'm one of the very few that prefer the new signals over the old. Mainly
because they are easier to see at my age. However it's hard to beat a shot like this with the old signals, this is great! Jay Date: 02/07/16 09:48 Re: Signal Sunday - One Last Shot Author: Seventyfive Nothing beats B&O Color Position Lights. I count my lucky stars I was able to work on them years ago while in a B&O signal gang. What a great photo! Nice to see the planning and execution pay off. As long as the signals stand keep shooting. I hope someone will be able to catch it with the Approach Indication, which should look cool at night. Any idea when the tower closed?

Everything is just so freakin GENERIC. Seen one, seen them ALL. Date: 02/07/16 16:16 Re: Signal Sunday - One Last Shot Author: Gateway97 Nice job CG! What's left up that way once this one falls?
