611 today (and other NS goodies)
Author: SOU3921

Things started well, fleets of NB and SB trains, running around each other to get the hot ones in front.

1070 led 218 south today. Pictured at Swann, just inside NC, south of Danville, VA.

Immediately behind 218, was 13R with a trio of eager beavers.

They met NS 158 with a pair of CSX ES44ACs, pictured just north of Ruffin, NC.

Next up NS 214, running down NS 158.

After getting 213 around 611 and meeting 214, NS 213 comes south at Swann with an SD60M up front.

36Q, after getting passed by 158, and 214 and meeting 213 at Reidsville, comes north at the "double dip" just south of Pelham, NC.

Finally the star arrives.

NS 955, 611 at the double dip south of Pelham, NC, concealing a small consist of two tool cars and two coal gons.

Reidsville, just south of CP Priddy.

Finally at Elm in Greensboro, NC.

LOVE THEM RED NEW PILOT TRUCK WHEELS.
MAKE THEM A KEEPER--- TERRIFIC ATTENTION-GETTER!

CONGRATS TO THE STEAM CREW, AND THEIR COLLABORATING DESIGNERS, FOR A WONDERFUL UPDATE IN CURRENT TECHNOLOGY APPLIED TO 1950s ARTIFACT.

WONDERFUL.

There's no way they'd keep red wheels. Aside from being butt ugly it's not prototypical and would serve literally no purpose. You think people flipped about the "Spirit if Roanoke" I could only image if they tried to keep these.

In agree, no caps.  For us old-timers, it's hard to read the regular screen, but I just increase screen view to 110% or 125%, leaving the all caps for screamers.  No offense intended here, I just like the old standard.  Just hit ctrl and scroll

The red on the truck wheels is the primer. They will be black to match the rest of the locomotive. It is glad to see her running again. Thank you for the excellent photos.......

Now would Ed and Co. please pay attention in Cheyanne? This is how to run a steam locomotive.

Hopefully the guy who liked the primer paint was joking. What really looks like crap in an otherwise great photo is the crew member wearing his totally unnecessary yellow safety vest while on the train.

Unbelievable.....
Here we are, wintessing a mainline steam locomoive operating on the mainline, unassisted, in 2016.
And yet, we can't get over a couple of damn safety vests.
Pathetic.
No wonder the railfan community is a joke to anyone outside of their "bubble".....

It's a ferry move too - not like a period photoshoot or something.

We use the neon vests at our tourist railroad - they're easy to see and then people who which ones of us are involved with the railroad.

Required by the NS for all crew members. Once again, the RR'ss are here to serve the railfan community....

And all that is necessary if the vests really bother you is a little Lightroom/Photoshop work.  But the one that REALLY floored me was the REQUEST in this thread a few days ago...
