The Georgia Florida Railnet today
Author: ns2557

Caught up with the GFRR or GA-FLA Railnet early today.  Passing thru Adel Ga on my way north, found their daily train out on this end of the line.  Using a few ex Guilford and CN units they seem to do ok for the most part, what I can tell. Track is abit sketchy here and there, but they do manage.  Today's run is a pretty good sized train at that.

But here is GFRR GP40-2 502 with GP40-2LW 9463 and GP40-2 500 at Adel Ga.  Kinda like the paint scheme on the 500. The 502, well, it needs some work.  Looks like when they repainted the cab, they missed a spot over the door.  But then as they say, paint don't pay the bills.

   Take care all.   Ben

I believe the Albany-Adel segment was rebuilt to 49 mph when Southern ran freight Birmingham-Columbus-Albany-Adel-Jacksonville. That pattern didn't last long, in retrospect.

That 502 should be named the "Pride of Guilford".

Looks as if the 502's brow was painted with a roller or brush.

Are those 500's ex B&M GP40-2's.  I like the paint on the 500.  As previously mention the paint job on the 502 is a different storey.

The 502 is definitely ex-B&M and based on the bell placement and the lack of dynamic brakes, I'd bet the 500 is, too.

Omnitrax at its finest. What a great corporate image they present. I'd be embarrassed if I was Pat Broe. All the money that guy has, and his railroads look like this. I guess that's why he has all that money.

Talk about a rust bucket! 502 takes the prize.
