Date: 02/13/16 07:23 Re: CP created new website for merger with NS Author: j-miller Why is CP so hell bent on taking over NS than CSX? I thought CP tried it on CSX once and CSX refused CP's offer and that was the end of of it. They do the same thing now to NS and NS says no how many time's and CP Rail just keeps pushing. What does NS have that CSX don't?

A spot on one of CNBC's stupid Wall Street shows - Sermons by Joe Kiernan ? Hysterics by Rick Santelli ? Plugs by Larry Kudlow ?

This website is just part of a barrage of propaganda that flood the internet before the NS shareholder resolution vote that CP will lose. The website is, in fact, an insult to the investors and others toward whom it is directed in that CP believes they are stupid enough to possibly believe their propaganda. CP has several insurmountable problems including lack of funds (can't afford a full cash offer for NS); lack of cedibility; and overwhelming opposition from numerous shippers, other railroads, and the US political establishment. CP is just too blind to see that they won't succeed.

Date: 02/13/16 10:00 Re: CP created new website for merger with NS Author: halfmoonharold CP should explain to us all why their 4Q numbers were so crummy, given they have that monstrous genius Hunter Harryhausen at the helm. Why is morale so bad there????
Date: 02/13/16 10:00 Re: CP created new website for merger with NS Author: MSchwiebert More flab to cut. NS has been behind the curve in adjusting/right sizing to business conditions, compared to CSX. It's either inattentive leadership or poor forecasting - pick your choice.

Date: 02/13/16 10:56 Re: CP created new website for merger with NS Author: shadetree Yes, they would be in worse shape because coal would be a larger percentage of their bottom line.
Eng.Shadetree Date: 02/13/16 11:05 Re: CP created new website for merger with NS Author: MSchwiebert Correct, one of the benefits of the Conrail split was to end the monopoly that they had on the NY/NJ intermodal business.

Date: 02/13/16 11:27 Re: CP created new website for merger with NS Author: billroland The plea for the need to increase capacity is a laugh. That's why everybody is mothballing routes right now, because they need more capacity.
Date: 02/13/16 11:54 Re: CP created new website for merger with NS Author: joemvcnj Chicago has been a bottleneck since railroads were invented.
Needless coal branch lines in Kentucky doesn't lessen the fact there are Indiana and Chicago capacity issues. Date: 02/13/16 13:25 Re: CP created new website for merger with NS Author: Lackawanna484 1 Wrote:

These institutional holders include pension plans, college endowment funds, mutual funds, etc. They were unhappy with Fred Green at CP, and voted him out. But their subsequent experience with Ackman wasn't encouraging. If Ackman etc can't make a convincing case that they'll do a better job than Squires, Ackman won't get the nod. But, Squires and NS are clearly on borrowed time, They have at most six months to demonstrate results or the barbarians will return.... The memories of Rock Island and other failed lines are too clearclear in my memory. I would rather see a lean, healthy CP than another failed company.

I not seeing CP healthy. Plus, EHH has never grown a business. The oil trade dropped in his lap and forced him to take measures, i.e. CTC the Soo main that should have been done 20 years ago, he didn't want to do. I would agree that NS has got to show good results in the next couple of quarters. If they do, Ackman will lose. Further, I believe this "website" is a ploy to get the institutional investors into his camp. So far, there's no evidence that's happened. If you have to tell people it's a good deal, it usually isn't. The big question remains: Will NS fight? You have to grow, that means capital investments, seeking out new business and maintaining the business you have. Harrison has not done ANY of that at the helm of CP. You don't think his departure from CN is a mere coincidence that they've been gradually recovering what they lost under his watch, do you? Posted from iPhone Sean Hoyden Broad Run, VA Date: 02/14/16 16:58 Re: CP created new website for merger with NS Author: tq-07fan I sold my CP stock back on October 9th for $157.60 and it hasn't been that high since. Had it since 1997 back when it was CP Limited. Guess what finger I hold in your general direction EHH? NS stock is down from what it was too, but more than the $18 I stole it for around year 2000 or so. I think the NS has made some serious mistakes here recently, especially the Bellevue idea and autorouter but I still don't see selling the NS stock yet. I certainly don't see the CP taking over NS as being good for anyone and will vote against it. I did receive a stockholder thing from the NS on Saturday. Have not really read into yet.
