Eastern Railroad Discussion > P030 at Foley Overlook - Glencoe, PA

Amtrak P030 was running about an hour late on April 20.....allowing time for the morning sun to bathe the deep valley in brilliant light.  The eastbound passenger train is just ambling downgrade and the sound you hear in the background is Wills Creek, a popular trout stream.

The still photo is simply a grab from the video done on the Galaxy S5.

I have not been up to Foley in at least 13 years....I heard 'horror stories' of a property owner smashing up a viewing deck that someone built there...and posting the land no trespassing and chasing railfans out....but again, this was well over a decade ago...Dave W

Your nice views sure beat driving three hours, fighting ticks, snakes, cranky locals, and that awful access road.  I can enjoy Foley from the comfort of my living room.  Thanks.

Thanks Art........I too enjoy "vicarious railfanning" made possible by the sharing on Trainorders.  Actually, Tooland Rd. is now well-maintained and the overlook may be reached by a standard automobile.  I have never had a problem with the landowner, but yes, many years ago, a railfan platform was erected without the landowner's permission.  It was subsequently destroyed and thrown down the steep incline..

I will have to keep that in mind for a future visit....I had a pickup truck last time I was up there....My Impala bottoms out easily...Dave W
