On Tap: NYS&W Utica Club Brewery Spur Repair
Author: ut-1

The New York, Susquehanna & Western Railroad serves Utica Club Brewery (officially "F.X. Matt Brewing Co."), makers of Utica Club, Saranac Ale & Saranac soft drinks, on a spur off the railroad's street running on Utica, NY's Schuyler Street.

On Wednesday, May 25th, the Susquehanna's track department did some repair work here. A few minutes after I stopped to photograph the work, UT-1 entered the scene, returning from a trip to Sangerfield, 23 miles away.

Here are some pics:

1) Work Underway.

2) UT-1 approaches resulting in an interesting traffic pattern indeed.

3) The conductor comes out to check out the work.

Nice.  That is not an inexpensive repair.  Hopefully it bodes well for many more years of use.

Confusing. Was there trackwork done or merely replacing blacktop?
Thanks,

Hi Gonut1:

There was a big dip in the tracks which was corrected and a NYS&W Utica engineer commented on another board, "It took long enough to fix...the frog was the worst part."

The first shot with tele would make one ask when trolley service was starting! Nice to see that the brewery
does enough to need rail service.
