Mid train DPU
Author: approachmedium

Last Saturday I noticed a long NS train going into Guest St yard with midbrain helpers, an SD 80 and
SD 60M. Is this a common occurrence for NS. I don't know the train number but if anyone knows whether
this is a common occurrence or if the is a specific train number that commonly has mid train helpers when
going into Guest St. could you please let me know. Thank you in advance.

If the train was southbound, it may have been 169.  I believe 169 (out of Conway) combines with 179 (out of Bellevue) in Columbus.  The train usually has mid train DPUs by the time it reaches Birmingham.

Are they still building the big 376 or 116 trains with DPU's in Danville or wherever? I haven't noticed one recently.

It's NS' main yard in Cincinnati.

I think it's "Gest Street Yard" in Cincinnati.  Probably a case of the spell checker "fixing" it or his fingers thought they were smarter than the brain.  Trainorders' spell checker doesn't like "Gest."  Happens to me all the time.
