Been a while since I posted any videos here on TO...so had to make this one special.
Lots of pictures of The Curve recently, so Tom (The Station Inn) and myself went for a video visit last week to see for ourselves.

Beautiful video, I love the improvements, but I miss the K4.  BTW, where is the K4?

I see that.  Two threads on the same subject!  Great minds, etc.

Nice video, Doug and Tom....I was up at the curve in early April during the early stages of cutting and posted a video on here back then....

I am planning a West Slope vacation for later in June for a return visit to see the completed cutting project....I had spoken to the Railroaders Museum curator during the April visit and he stated that there will be maintenance trimming as required to keep the view clear....Dave Williams

Hi Dave, you were the first to video the improvements for sure...
watched it 3/4 times...good stuff & now better that it's green.
The nice girl at the ticket counter said the plan was to pick up all the dead wood over the summer...
so it should br great for years to come.

Some of her is in the new roundhouse at the main museum in Altoona. The boiler may still be over at EBT shops (obviously, I haven't been there since they shut down.)

The K4 was removed from the Curve in the mid 1980's....ran some excursions and then was disassembled for rebuild in which condition it currently remains....It spent time at Steamtown before being returned in pieces to Altoona where the intent is that it may someday be reassembled...Dave W

Tom is a good narrator to complement your videography....I did not realize that NS would go ahead and trim all the way up to the extreme West end of the view...Dave W.

For some reason, I can't hear the audio on this video (tried several times, and I can hear the audio on other T.O. videos).   I did watch it over on your YouTube page and got the audio there, however.

Here is the K4s at the roundhouse in Altoona, boiler and all.  There are a handful of guys volunteering their time restoring the 1361 piece by piece, it will take time and money but an effort is being made.

Yes, if you plan on visiting the museum the roundhouse is open so you can bop in and check things out.  The passenger car on the right of the photo is Mountain View, obs car used on the Broadway.

Thanks for a magnificent video. What a big job, clearing that view. Do I presume correctly that this is a NS expense to their "good will" account? If so, way to go NS. Or does someone else deserve credit? I did some work like this in college days and I know working on that kind of slope is nothing but a pain, and more than a little dangerous. Have to get out there real soon. d
