The lucky folks in this apartment building along the ex-B&O in downtown Philly will soon be losing their balcony view of the CPL protecting the RACE interlocking. Crews have installed footings and run wire for the Darth Vader replacements - only a matter of days or weeks until the swap.

I've read where this type of signaling system employed by the B&O allowed for many signaling combinations that were fairly easy to remember and understand.  Some have said it's still better, in terms of signal meaning, than today's signals.  Very unique.

having dealt with PRR position lights my whole career i found the B&O signal aspects quite confusing ...
