CN 5687 BCOL 4645 IC 1037 West with BBCX 1000 Schnabel Car

Around 6:00 PM, last evening, Saturday, July 23, 2016, a friend called to tell me that one of the CN trains, M397,  would be leaving Battle Creek, Michigan, real soon and had Schnabel car and caboose on the rear end. So I grabbed my buddy and we headed to one of my favorite locations, Schoolcraft, Michigan, to wait. While in the area we saw an Eastbound with CN 5628 & CN 5661 & CN 2322. And a bit later we heard the Train Dispatcher talking to what turned out to be M397, advising him of some weather conditions around South Bend, Indiana, and also that he had Q116 East coming across on the single track and to expect a short delay at Schoolcraft.

So on Saturday afternoon, July 23, 2016, I was able to get video of three trains. They turned out so-so....nothing great.....

This one here is of M397. With an interesting mix of power too:

CN 5687 BCOL 4645 IC 1037 West, Saturday, July 23, 2016, at about 8:05 PM. At CN Schoolcraft - MP 146.8 CN South Bend Subdivision, Schoolcraft, Michigan.

At the tail end is Emmert International's Private Caboose and the empty Schnabel car and a flat car carrying an extra piece to extend the length of the Schnabel car.

I couldn't be certain of the car number from the video, it was going 40 MPH. But looking at the video and capturing a few images from it, I believe the car is: BBCX1000 Schnabel Railcar.
This was from their website: Emmert International’s BBCX1000 Schnabel Railcar is specifically designed to carry heavy (up to 1 million pounds) and oversized loads in such a way that the load itself makes up part of the car.

My friend took photographs of the train and tail end cars, but he was sleeping when I decided to get this up here, so maybe later today I'll have some real photographs of the three cars.

Not the greatest of photographs, but here are the three rear cars on the CN 5687 West from Saturday, July 23, 2016.

BBCX 1002 - BBCX1002 Caboose is the living quarters for the Schnabel car operators during the transportation of the vessels as some can take up to a week or more depending on the destination.

BBCX 1004 - BBCX1004 is used for is to transport the deck of the BBCX1000 Schnabel car when it is not in use.

BBCX 1000 - Emmert International’s BBCX1000 Schnabel Railcar is specifically designed to carry heavy (up to 1 million pounds) and oversized loads in such a way that the load itself makes up part of the car. The load is suspended between the two ends of the cars by lifting arms; the lifting arms are connected to a pivot above an assembly of pivots and frames that carry the weight of the load and the lifting arm.

Their website says that this car is restricted empty to 40 MPH.  I didn't know that yesterday.   But, where the train is in the video is a 40 MPH curve.
