Update on New Vermilion (Ohio) Connection
Author: Lakota-rail

About one month ago a gentleman posted photo's on the progress of Norfolk Southerns new connection between their Chicago Line and NKP in Vermilion Ohio.  This connection is between Risden and Coen Roads just west of Vermilion and here are some updated photos taken today.  In photo one the look is east from Risden Road, a WB train seen to the left.  Photo two is also looking east in the the same location.  Looking west in photo three is the new ROW where the switch on the Chicago Line will be located.

This photo is looking west from Coen Road along the NKP.  In the distance you can see the new connection area and new signal mast on the left.  The final photo is from Lorain Ohio at the site of the former Ford Motor Company yard that was located along the NKP, has not been in use for several years but I did notice they are storing box cars on two storage tracks once used for loading new vehicles from the plant.

The box cars had been stored at South Lorain Yard. They were moved to Oak Point on July 1st.

Many of those gons are being reconsigned elsewhere.
